Coldplay Grab Four Nominations For Q Magazine Awards

Coldplay lead the field for this year's Q magazine awards with four nominations.

The foursome are nominated for best track and best video for their single Violet Hill - which was released as a free download in June - while their recent effort Viva La Vida or Death And All His Friends is included in the best album category.


And Chris Martin and company are also nominated for the best act in the world today category, alongside Oasis, Muse, Metallica and Kings Of Leon.

New York band Vampire Weekend and Mancunian duo the Ting Tings each have three nominations while Kings of Leon,
the Last Shadow Puppets and Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds are all in with a chance of taking home a brace of awards.

The BBC's Sound of 2008 list, which predicted the most successful stars of the year, is revealed to have been accurate, with Duffy, Adele and Santogold all named in the breakthrough
artist category.

The winners will be voted for by readers of the music monthly and announced at the Grosvenor Hotel in London on October 6th.
