Coachella 2012: Nate Dogg To Perform From Beyond The Grave
Fans and artists alike are gearing up for this weekend's Coachella festival, which takes place over two weekends in the Coachella valley, California. Festivals are often full of surprises and Coachella is no different as rap fans will be treated to a performance from the late Nate Dogg. He'll be arriving at the festival via hologram, along with his former compadres, Snoop Dogg, Warren G and Dr Dre, who are all booked to perform at the festival. Nate Dogg will become the first "laser enabled phantom to headline a music festival" according to Slate's report on YouTube.
The rapper passed away in March 2011, after several years of health problems. He was aged 41 when he died and had experienced his first stroke four years previously. The stroke left him paralysed on one side of his body. His voice was not affected and doctors at the time predicted a full recovery for the rapper. A year later, though, he suffered another stroke and he eventually died from complications of multiple strokes. Nate collaborated with Warren G, Snoop Dogg, Dr Dre and Tupac Shakur on a number of hit releases in his lifetime.
For the first time, Coachella will be held over two consecutive weekends, on the same site; a reflection of its growing popularity. Tye Comer of Billboard.com told Reuters "Coachella has pushed boundaries in the past. It has redefined what festivals are about, and has a different character to other festivals around the world."
