Co-star Defends Bale Blow-out

CHRISTIAN BALE's TERMINATOR SALVATION co-star TERRY CREWS has come to the actor's defence after a taped on-set rant was leaked on the Internet. The Dark Knight star could be heard angrily reprimanding an assistant director for walking onto the set while Bale was shooting a scene.
Furious Bale demanded the crewmember be fired, while hurling abuse and profanity at the careless assistant.
But co-star Crews insists too much is being made of the actor's outburst.
He tells HollyScoop.com, "Anyone can have a bad day... I'd get mad too if I was the number one star in the world and people started to mess with me. He is a class act! He is one of the greatest actors ever.
"I'm vouching for him. I know he's a nice guy. I know he's all about his work."
Bale's angry rant was caught on tape and sent to the insurance company behind Terminator Salvation - just in case the actor decided not to complete the film following the incident.

See Heavily Eye-Linered Christian Bale As Moses In Ridley Scott's 'Exodus: Gods And Kings' [Trailer & Pictures] 4278930 News

Director Ridley Scott has dealt with some epic stories whether it's the might of the Roman Empire and the obsession with gladiators, slavering murderous aliens in space or legends of British folklore. But now the 76-year-old director is tackling the Bible and is adapting the story of Moses for the big screen in Exodus: Gods and Kings

Ridley Scott's interpretation of the Exodus story, written by Steven Zaillian (American Gangster), will follow Moses' journey to lead the Israelites from Egypt. There appears to be a great deal more chariot racing than one would expect and some impressive costumes. Of course, eyeliner is smeared liberally around the eyes of every cast member. Special effects have been made great use of whether the ten plagues are concerned and the trailer shows dramatic rivers of blood and swarms of locusts descending on the palaces of Egypt.

In case you were wondering or simply need to brush up on the Bible, baby Moses was discovered in a basket floating down the River Nile having been sent away by his mother after an unnamed Pharaoh demanded all first born sons be killed. Fortunately, as the story goes, Moses was not eaten by crocodiles and was instead found by the daughter of the Egyptian Pharaoh. Moses was brought up as a Prince alongside her son Rhamses.

Unfortunately, Moses' conscience got the better of him when he saw a slave being beaten and ran off to become a shepherd (as you do). A burning bush, which turned out to be God, told Moses to return to Egypt and lead the Israelites out of slavery. Moses asked his former adopted brother and now Pharaoh Rhamses to free the slaves but he refused and so God brought down ten plagues including locusts, disease and raining blood. Finally the Pharaoh relented and ordered the Israelites to leave.

Moses leads his people to the edge of the Red Sea but the Pharaoh changed his mind and pursued them. As the story goes, Moses with the help of God parted the Red Sea and led his people into the desert for 40 years.

Christian Bale, Aaron Paul and Ben Kingsley star in Ridley Scott's latest film.

Aaron Paul (Breaking Bad) plays Joshua, Moses' closest advisor and John Turturro (God's Pocket) features as Seti. British actor Ben Kingsley (Iron Man 3) also stars alongside fellow Brit Indira Varma (Game of Thrones) as Miriam, Rhamses' mother.

Exodus: Gods And Kings 4278777 Videos 10th July 2014

Moses and the Egyptian Pharaoh Ramses grew up together as brothers after the former was saved from drowing in the Nile. However, Moses has not forgotten the reason why he was cast into the river; all newborn Israelites were condemned to death by the past Pharaoh for fear of their growing numbers. Now he is enlisted by God to save the Israelites from their slavery at the hands of the Pharaoh's people, but to do so he must turn his back on his brother and friend. The Egyptians fight back as Moses defiantly leads the Israelites on an arduous journey across the desert, while God unleashes a series of horrific plagues and turns their Nile to blood. Egypt face new dangers as God decides that rules need to be laid down for Moses and his people.

'Exodus: Gods and Kings' is an intense interpretation of the Old Testament's Book of Exodus, which depicts Moses' encounter with the Burning Bush and his liberation of the Jewish slaves. It has been directed by Ridley Scott ('Alien', 'Blade Runner', 'Prometheus', 'Hannibal') and written by Academy Award winner Steven Zaillian ('American Gangster', 'Schindler's List'), and  Bill Collage and Adam Cooper ('Tower Heist', 'Accepted'). It is scheduled to be released in UK cinemas on December 26th 2014.

David Fincher Leaves Steve Jobs Movie After 'Ridiculous' Wage Demands 4156859 News

Oscar-winning filmmaker David Fincher has walked out on Aaron Sorkin's biopic of late Apple founder Steve Jobs after Sony Pictures turned down his "aggressive" demands for a $10 million pay-day as well as control of the marketing of the movie, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

David FincherDavid Fincher Has Apparently Left The Steve Jobs Movie

It was believed that Fincher had joined the as-yet untitled drama after working with Sorkin on the Facebook movie The Social Network, though a source said Fincher's salary demands were "ridiculous."

"You're not doing Transformers here," said the insider, "You're not doing Captain America. This is quality - it's not screaming commerciality. He should be rewarded in success, but not up front."

Fincher had reportedly agreed to work on the project on the proviso that Christian Bale play Jobs, though the Oscar-winning actor has set to sign on the dotted line. Sorkin - who remains on-board as screenwriter - has been working on an unusual structure for the biopic, which will be told in three single-take scenes, each one following a major Apple product launch.

Aaron SorkinAaron Sorkin Is Penning the Jobs Movie

It is the second Steve Jobs movie following the Apple founder's death in 2011. In 2011, Ashton Kutcher played the tech genius in the critically derided Jobs - a traditional biopic which grossed a modest $35 million at the global box office.

Fincher's The Social Network took $225 million in 2010, while his English-language adaptation of Stieg Larsson's crime novel The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo took $235 million.

At this moment in time, Fincher has little on his schedule, apart from executive producing  Leslie Dektor's untitled project about the life of a photo journalist who documented the plight of migrant farm workers during the Great Depression and whose photographer inspired John Steinbeck's The Grapes of Wrath.

Is This A Celebrity Which I See Before Me? Hollywood Actors Who Have Tackled Shakespeare Roles 4123685 News

There’s no better way of proving that you are a true artiste than taking on a challenging Shakespearean role. Not content with raking in millions of dollars from their blockbuster movies, these famous actors and actresses decided that they needed some to shake up their careers with a bit of William Shakespeare.

Tom Hiddleston’s talents aren’t restricted to playing Marvel Comics’ super villian, Loki. The Thor star has a soft spot for Shakespeare, starring in the Hollow Crown series as Henry V as well as taking on Coriolanus at the Donmar Warehouse. Sounds like an easy role to kill a bit of time in between filming. Well, maybe not, but there’s certainly a lot of killing of some kind.

tom hiddleston shakespeare Tom Hiddleston isn't just the bad guy from Thor

We kid you not, he of the superfluous vocabulary, Russell Brand, played Trinculo in a version of The Tempest, released in 2010. Before you start imagining Russell holding up a skull and contemplating life, Trinculo was King Alonso’s jester.

Perhaps taking on the Scottish play makes Scottish actor James McAvoy feel at home. McAvoy has played Macbeth twice now, first in Shakespeare Re-told (as Joe Macbeth) and more recently as the title character in a 2013 production, reworked into a post-apocalyptic setting. Très avant-garde.

Jonathan Rhys Meyers isn’t a stranger to playing the bad guy, achieving international fame as the wife-killing King Henry VIII on Showtime’s The Tudors. His dabble with the Shakespearean arts can be seen in the film Titus, in which he plays Goth prince, Chiron. Chiron and his brother Demetrius murder Bassianus before raping and disfiguring Lavinia. What a nice guy.

jonathan rhys meyers shakespeare Jonathan Rhys Meyers played murderous Goth prince, Chiron.

If anyone doubted that Ben Whishaw had the acting range to play Freddie Mercury in the upcoming biopic, they need just remember that he played Ariel in The Tempest, Richard II in the Hollow Crown Series and Hamlet back in 2004. We can’t imagine remembering all of the words to one Shakespeare play, let alone three.

Only actors with Shakespearean experience need apply for Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight trilogy. Both Christian Bale and Anne Hathaway have taken on Shakespeare, Bale played Demetrius in A Midsummer’s Night Dream while Hathaway played Viola, the cross-dressing castaway before she was Cat Woman.

Hollywood stars definitely get thespian points for performing Shakespeare, and most of them actually do a bloody brilliant job. Particularly the ones who star in the tragedies, because those are quite literally, very bloody. We can’t even bring ourselves to mention Leonardo DiCaprio and Claire Danes as Romeo and Juliet, we still hope for a different ending every time we watch it.

Christian Bale To Play Steve Jobs? Other Actors Who Could Suit The Role 4123353 News

Let’s hope the next attempt at making a movie about the life of American entrepreneur and late CEO of Apple, Steve Jobs is an improvement on the last one. Ashton Kutcher tackled the role in 2013’s Jobs, which only took $35m at the box office...worldwide. This hasn’t deterred Sony, who believe that there is still money to be made with a new script and a new actor.

ashton kutcher steve jobs Ashton Kutcher played Steve Jobs in 2013's jOBS

Many were not pleased that Kutcher had been chosen to play the role, perhaps they’ll be happier to hear that this time Christian Bale is rumored to play Steve Jobs. The new script has been written by Aaron Sorkin, with Guymon Casady, Mark Gordon and Scott Rudin on hand to produce. Director David Fincher has his sights set on the Oscar winning star of The Dark Knight trilogy and American Hustle, although neither Sony nor a representative for Bale have confirmed that he is actually set to nab the role. In turn, David Fincher will allegedly only direct if they do manage to get Bale on board.

We have to admit, Christian Bale does have a certain Steve Jobs-esque look to him and we all know that he has the acting scope to take on pretty much any role, so he is a sensible choice. With these projects it’s wise to keep your options open though, so if Bale falls through, we recommend giving one of these actors a shot instead.

Stanley Tucci could definitely pass for Jobs in a line up and he’s a fantastic actor to boot. His performance in The Lovely Bones in 2009 earned him a nomination for an Academy Award in the Best Supporting Actor category and he’s lately proved his versatility starring as Caesar Flickerman in The Hunger Games movies.

Mark Strong may be best known for playing villains but we know that he’s versatile enough to take on the role of the Apple co-founder. We’re not just picking these actors for their reseeding hairlines!

Ralph Fiennes is a virtuoso actor. From Harry Potter's arch nemesis Voldemort to M. Gustave in The Grand Budapest Hotel, Fiennes is an actor with range and the skill to take on any character role.

Steve Jobs was diagnosed with cancer in 2003, undergoing treatment but eventually losing his battle to the disease in 2011. He is remembered for his charisma and as an unparalleled innovator, internationally regarded as a man capable of revolutionising the world of business and technology. We can only hope that the new movie does his memory the justice that it deserves.

Who would be your ideal choice to play Steve Jobs in Aaron Sorkin’s new film? “Anyone but Ashton Kutcher” is also an acceptable answer.

Jennifer Lawrence Gets Her Party On In 'American Hustle' Deleted Lip Sync Scene 4119918 News

Jennifer Lawrence has delighted owners of the recently released American Hustle DVD by appearing in one of the disc's deleted scenes lip-synching to Santana whilst wearing rubber gloves and cleaning. Those who have seen the film will remember a similar, shorter scene where Jennifer mimes and dances to Wings' 'Live and Let Die' in front of her bemused son but the extended 'Evil Ways' clip goes all the way.

Christian Bale + Aaron Sorkin + David Fincher = Amazing Steve Jobs Biopic 4119554 News

Christian Bale could play Steve Jobs in the forthcoming biopic directed by David Fincher and written by Aaron Sorkin. Though the writer-director team is enough to whet appetites, the addition of Oscar winner Bale to the mix basically means this movie cannot fail. Sort of.

Christian BaleChristian Bale Could Play Steve Jobs

Bale, who recently scored an Oscar nomination for American Hustle, is very much Fincher's first choice for the movie considered a companion piece to Fincher and Sorkin's The Social Network.

According to the Wrap, Fincher has made it a condition that he will only accept the task of directing Jobs' story, should Sony secure Bale for the lead role. Studio co-chair Amy Pascal, who previously worked with Fincher on The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, is believed to be happy to go along with the director's demands.

The project will take a widely different approach to the instantly forgettable Ashton Kutcher biopic in that it will revolve around three long scenes, each detailing a different product launch. The movie will cover the original Mac in 1984, the widely admired but commercially unsuccessful NeXT computer that Jobs built after getting the boot from Apple, and the game-changing iPod that marked his triumphant return:

"There will be no time cuts and each will take place before a product launch. Backstage before a product launch. The first one being the Mac, the second one being NeXT, after he had left Apple. And the third one being the iPod," Sorkin told the Daily Beast.

"I don't know if you remember the ad campaign [Jobs] did. It was the 'Think Different' campaign. 'Here's to the crazy ones.' That's how it began. If I can end the movie with that text and that voiceover ... If I can earn that ending, then I will have written the movie that I wanted to write," the acclaimed writer added.

Sorkin and Fincher's movie is effectively the 'official' Steve Jobs biopic, given it adapts the bestselling official biography by Walter Isaacson, Steve Jobs: The Exclusive Biography.

Christian Bale has not yet been formally approached to play Jobs. He has just finished work on Ridley Scott's biblical Exodus.

Steve Jobs died of respiratory arrest in October 2011, related to pancreatic cancer.

So, Why Didn't 'American Hustle' Win A Single Academy Award? 4094591 News

American Hustle may have a 93% fresh rating on review aggregator website Rotten Tomatoes, but it failed to woo the Academy at this year’s awards show. In fact, despite having received 10 nominations in various categories at last night’s Academy Awards, American Hustle didn’t take home a single Oscar. How was it that a movie so well received by viewers and critics didn’t take home an award for any of the categories it was nominated for?

amy adams american hustle Amy Adams failed to win an Academy Award for her role in American Hustle

The answer's simple really.  The competition at this year’s Oscars was brutal. The Best Picture winner 12 Years A Slave has been hailed as one of the most powerful movies of all time, so much so that it has been added to the American high school curriculum by the National School Boards Association. This elevates it from being just another movie with a weighty theme into something entirely more important. 12 Years A Slave has made history and in the process been recognised as being so significant that it can be used as an educational tool. How do you like that for competition?

For those of you who haven’t seen Woody Allen’s latest movie Blue Jasmine, stop what you are doing and buy a copy immediately, but ensure you’ve had a good night sleep because it’s exhausting to watch. Cate Blanchett puts in the performance of her career, heart-wrenching and difficult to watch Blanchett’s Jasmine spirals into the depths of mental breakdown - an antiheroine sans the ‘heroine’ and sadly American Hustle’s Amy Adams simply couldn’t compete.

cate blanchett jennifer lawrence Cate Blanchett won the Oscar for Best Actress, while Jennifer Lawrence failed to take home an award

Let’s face it, if Leonardo DiCaprio couldn’t beat McConaughey in the race for Best Actor in a Leading Role, nobody stood a chance. Christian Bale may have gained weight for his role, which usually guarantees awards success, but despite a stellar performance, McConaughey left everybody in his wake. Maybe it’s all about losing weight for a movie, rather than gaining it?

Everyone loves J-Law, but Lupita Nyong’o was the critics favourite to win the Best Supporting Actress Oscar from day one. At just 23 and already with one Oscar under her belt, Jennifer Lawrence will just have to wait her turn to win her second Academy Award.

American Hustle was also nominated for Best Original Screenplay, Best Film Editing, Best Production Design and Best Costume Design, but failed to pick up awards in any of these categories either. It just goes to show that no matter how popular your movie is at the box office, awards are never guaranteed.

We have no doubt that the cast of American Hustle will each go on to score many more awards over their careers. You win some, you lose some, but at least with the Academy Awards you can always try again next year.

Christian Bale Suffered Herniated Disc For American Hustle Role 4085006 News

Actor Christian Bale suffered a herniated disc after gaining 43 pounds (19.5 kilograms) for his role in American Hustle.

The Dark Knight star packed on the pounds to portray overweight conman Irving Rosenfeld in the film, but admits his age has become an obstacle when it comes to gaining and losing weight for roles.

For American Hustle, the actor injured his back by perfecting his character's hunched posture.

Director David O. Russell tells USA Today, "At one point I said enough already. He lost three inches of height, and even got a herniated disc. He's a quiet, sweet, smart person with endless passion..."

The weight gain was not all bad for the 40 year old - it helped him land another Academy Award nomination.

Bale is no stranger to changing his weight to suit a role - he famously lost 60 pounds (27.2 kilograms) for 2004's The MAChinist, before packing on muscle for Christopher Nolan's Batman trilogy, and losing it all again for The Fighter, which scored him a Best Supporting Actor Oscar in 2011.

Ignore the Bookies, It Could Be Leonardo DiCaprio's Year at the Oscars 4084453 News

Let's ignore the bookmakers' predictions for this Sunday's Oscars (March 2, 2014). The people who devise these odds have not seen the movies and base their prices on critics' reviews and public opinion of movies, actors and actresses. The McConnaissance - see Mud, Dallas Buyers Club, Wolf of Wall Street and True Detective - has left bookmakers quaking in their boots and reducing Matthew McConaughey's odds of winning best actor to 1/9. It's true that his portrayal of Ron Woodruff is probably the best of his career, though the Texan is way off being considered a nailed certainty on to win the award.

Leonardo DiCaprio Wolf of Wall StreetWill Jonah Hilll [L] Be Congratulating Leonardo DiCaprio [R] At The Oscars?

Consider the alternatives: we've got Chiwetel Ejiofor, the star of the finest movie of the year, Steve McQueen's 12 Years a Slave. History suggests that when a movie gains a momentum at the Oscars, it can rattle through the categories taking awards that it probably had no right to win. Nobody would complain should Ejiofor take best actor on Sunday anyway, though McConaughey and Leonardo DiCaprio could find themselves with little chance if the Academy has voted for 12 Years in the same way it took to The King's Speech and The Artist.

This week we learnt that Google had assessed the Oscar nominees and used search trends to effectively 'predict' the winners. Leonardo DiCaprio was the recipient of best actor for Martin Scorsese's The Wolf of Wall Street. Sure, the search analytics is a silly way of gauging how the Academy may have voted though what it does show is that DiCaprio's Jordan Belfort was likely the most talked about performance of the five this year. In fact, it definitely was.

It's no secret that DiCaprio has had some painful experiences at the Academy Awards, though it's also clear on each occasion there was a stronger performance than his own. In 1994, Ralph Fiennes for Schindler's List and Tommy Lee Jones in The Fugitive trumped DiCaprio's turn in What's Eating Gilbert Grape, while his performance in Blood Diamond was never really strong enough to beat Forest Whitaker for The Last King of Scotland. Jamie Foxx's Ray Charles was the big winner in 2005, leaving DiCaprio's turn in The Aviator consigned to the history books as another consistent turn by the actor.

However, this year is different. It's a strong best actor category - probably the strongest in years - though it can be genuinely argued that McConuaghey, Ejiofor, DiCapro, Christian Bale for American Hustle and Bruce Dern for Nebraska have delivered career highlight performances and are all truly deserving of the nomination. Perhaps DiCaprio will have to wait for a more favourable category to win his Oscar though one thing's for sure: his performance as Jordan Belfort in The Wolf of Wall Street would be considered one of the great turns never to have won the golden statuette should be remain fixed in his seat on Sunday.

I will NEVER pay a cent to see a Christian Bale movie again. What an egomaniacal, out of control freak! I don't care if he ends up with 10 Oscars. He's not worth anything in my estimation. So some one crossed his line of vision. How many obscene screeches does Mr. Perfect need to get his point across. Obviously he enjoys everyone cowtowing to him and loves throwing his nasty weight around. I hope he is blackballed!

Okay, just because someone freaked out on the set of a movie is not that big of a deal. To say that you won't watch any of his movies is quite ridiculous. I used to be a stand up comedian and people use to heckle me but I could find ways to stop them, but for others that is not their style. Some people have bad days or have anger issues to deal with. Also there is no video of this incident so it is hard to judge what was going on in the scene. It is possible that it was the emotional climax of the movie and he did it "perfect" or did it just the way that he wanted to do it and someone completely ruined it. Also, because it is Terminator 4 it is also possible that this happened during a stunt scene in which this person could have been hurt for not being in the right spot. I have listened to the audio myself and Bale said that it was the second time the person had done this. So, I just want to say that the comment above should not forever crucify this amazing actor. Please watch some of his movie to get the idea that he is a method actor which is an intense approach to acting... see reference Daniel Day-Lewis. Plus... one more thing, this is also the first time some idiot set up an actor by taping this and leaking it on the internet. There is no way to know how many of your favourite actors might have done this in the past. Anyways.. give this a rest.
