Clint Eastwood Film Dropped Following Earthquake

Clint Eastwood's new movie 'Hereafter' has been dropped from Japanese cinemas following last week's devastating earthquake and tsunami.

Clint Eastwood's latest film, which features scenes from the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami, will not continue its run in Japanese cinemas after the tragic events of last week, reports Bbc News. The official death toll in Japan currently stands at 2,400 but estimates put that number at closer to 10,000. Eastwood's film features footage from the horror of 2004, when more than 230,000 people were killed after a similar natural disaster hit the Indian Ocean. Warner Bros official Satoru Otani said the movie's terrifying tsunami scenes were "not appropriate" to show in Japan. The film has been screened in around 180 cinemas in the country since late February and was originally intended to continue its run until the end of the month. The film company have also postponed the release of Anthony Hopkins' latest movie 'The Rite' and in a statement said, "In deference to the tragic unfolding events in Japan, we have pulled Hereafter from the theatres and will postpone the Japanese release of The Rite to a later date".

Clint Eastwood's 'Hereafter' is a drama-thriller which follows the story of a blue-collar American, a French journalist and a London school boy who are touched by death in different ways. The movie stars Matt Damon, Cecile de France and BRYCE DALLAS HOWARD.
