Clifford: 'Jackson Is Beyond Help'

British public relations guru Max Clifford has slammed Michael Jackson's performance at the World Music Awards in London this week (15NOV06), insisting the pop superstar has "lost the plot".
Jackson was expected to perform a duet of his 1982 hit THRILLER with R+B star Chris Brown at the awards, but Brown sang the track alone. And when Jackson finally came on stage to sing a few lines of WE ARE THE WORLD, his performance received a chorus of boos.
Clifford says the debacle has destroyed Jackson's reputation as a performer, explaining, "In the last five years or more, Michael has alienated a lot of people. But the one thing that always stood him in good stead was, as a performer, he was one of the greats.
"This week, he destroyed that image. The reports from the awards say he sang one mangled line, several messy high notes and exited to a chorus of boos. As a performer that was incredibly damaging, and that's all he's got left."
"In simple terms, he's lost the plot, is totally divorced from reality and even when he goes on to perform and gives a performance everyone describes as abysmal, he thinks it's great. When you get to that stage, it's not good."

Michael Jackson is the king of pop, and thats final. He has surpassed what no1 has ever! he has proven to be the best, and does not need to perform anymore to keep his title! he is the best the world has seen and will ever see! get it through all your thick heads! im very surprised he even went to the awards! you should all be thankful he did!

FINALLY someone saying it like it is. This is SO true! But Wacko Jacko will blame his bad luck on racism or the media, saying everyone is mean to him and he doesn't understand why. .

Y'know what? I read all this hateful nonsense and I get SO riled up I could literally do someone damage, and then faster than I can recognise, I'm instantly disheartened. Filled with NO hope in the future of human decency, and compassion for my fellow man. What is this fascination the worldwide media have - the British in particular (before anyone throws an idiotic comment back, I'm British myself) - with attacking the most talented of legendary icons? Why can't ONE SINGLE occurrence go by without some bitchy slander thrown into the mix for good measure? The BULLYING and OSTRACISM this man has received on a worlwide stage (and make no mistake, that is exactly what this is) for the best part of his lifetime, never mind career, is CRIMINAL. If the same behaviour was directed at a regular joe, or even a child, they would be BREAKING THE LAW.And for what? Because increasingly in this day and age, it seems to be the "norm" to hate talented groundbreakers. Never mind that the insipid mass are flooding through doors OPENED by Michael Jackson and his kind of talent. Never mind that along with Prince, Michael Jackson is responsible for the VERY few sparks of what remains good in today's poor excuse for music. If at the very least respect and credit cannot be given for that, then how about this; were it NOT for Michael Jackson, the revolution and more aptly, EVOLUTION of MTV as a multi-racial, multi-cultural voice in music, would never have occurred.Had Michael Jackson not shown the enormous GUTS and COURAGE of a true visionary by standing up for what he believed in, jeopardising his own career in the process, then alot more than music would be different in today's world. How quickly people forget that it was MICHAEL who obliterated MTV's plans to stick to an all-white, all-rock music video channel. He cracked a peep in the door by performing live with the ROLLING STONES for one of their biggest hits. Then he kicked the door open by refusing to have ANYTHING to do with their affiliates whatsoever. That meant he would not perform at ANY award show, not even the televised chart shows of the time. He gave NO interviews, his camp shut down ENTIRELY until the MTV/VH1 organisation caved and agreed to screen not just his, but ANY videos at all by Artists of Colour. So all of you who revel in your bland, talentless nonsense of today, but condemn Michael Jackson for bigoted, prejudicial reasons that you don't even understand the basics of; your ignorance is what keeps hate alive. I pray that you one day step inside that wonderful man's shoes, and see the world from his perspective.See all the hate and ridicule that is thrown at you on a daily basis for what reason? Having the audacity to want to run and hide from a world intent on driving you over the edge; only to have them waiting in the wings like the vultures they are to shred you to pieces for falling. This man does not deserve the horror this world heaps upon him on a daily basis. AT NO TIME did I ever come across ANY COMFIRMED INFORMATION from Michael Jackson's camp to say that he intended to perform ANYTHING!It's just SO CRAZY! The world tears him to shreds for "trying to come back", then he comes out to an event thrown in his honour, and you slaughter him further for "not performing"!It's not enough the poor guy has effectively been exiled from his home and family. It doesn't satisfy the public thirst for blood to know his THREE YOUNG CHILDREN are also suffering at the hands of public hatred - no, you can't survive until you've done him AND HIS THREE INNOCENT CHILDREN in once and for all.All the man wants to do is make beautiful music and HELP PEOPLE. WHY DO YOU HATE HIM FOR IT AND WHY CAN'T YOU LEAVE HIM ALONE?
