Holly Willoughby - Class Separation Argument Causes Holly Willoughby To Lose Her Cool On "This Morning"
The arguments about names and class caused the host to lose her cool.
“This Morning” host Holly Willoughby isn’t usually known for her explosive temper, but even she has her limits. Those were apparently reached yesterday, when guest contributor Katie Hopkins (of The Apprentice fame) went off on a tangent about children’s first names and class separation. While the debate of whether the class system is still relevant in Britain rages on, Hopkins has taken it to a whole other level – her children are not allowed to interact with kids, bearing “working class names.”
Willoughby wasn't having it.
The tangent included statements like: "I think you can tell a great deal from a name. For me there's certain names that I hear and I think, 'Urgh'. For me, a name is a shortcut of finding out what class that child comes from and makes me ask, 'Do I want my children to play with them?
"There's a whole set of things that go with children like that and that's why I don't like those sorts of children."
And if you think that statement sounds absurd, you wouldn’t be the only one. The tangent went on for a while, with both Wiloughby and Philip Scofield trying to dissuade Hopkins, but when all else fails, at least there’s the ad break. At the end of the segment, Holly cut off the tirade with an abrupt: “Oh, stop! Stop right there!” Surely, that wasn’t the most professional way to end the conversation, but it did get the point across.
Working class hero?
