Clarence Clemons - Clarence Clemons' Next Days Are 'Critical'

Clarence Clemons, the E Street Band saxophonist who suffered a stroke at his home in Florida, is approaching a critical period in his recovery. Clarence Clemons is seriously ill and was initially paralyzed on his left side, reports the Bruce Springsteen fan-site Backstreets.com.
The latest from the Florida hospital where Clemons is being treated is that the musician is in a "better condition". A close friend of the legendary saxophonist said, "Yesterday, it did not look good at all. Today... miracles are happening. His vital signs are improving. He's responsive. His eyes are welling up when we're talking to him. He was paralyzed on his left side, but now he's squeezing with his left hand". The source added that the next five days of Clemon's recovery are considered "critical" by doctors. The 69-year-old has suffered with knee and back problems for over a decade, and recently had both knees replaced followed by spinal fusion surgery - he now walks with the aid of a cane and crutches. Regarded as an integral member of Bruce Springsteen's E Street Band, Clemons last played with 'The Boss' in December 2010.
Clarence Clemons features on two songs on Lady Gaga's multi-million selling album 'Born This Way'. He performed 'Edge of Glory' with the pop-star on American Idol last month.
