Cillian Murphy Wants Roles In Smaller Films

Cillian Murphy wants to star in ''smaller films''.

The 36-year-old actor - who lives in London - portrays Dr. Jonathan Crane/Scarecrow in Christopher Nolan's Batman trilogy and while he recently reprised his role in the latest blockbuster, 'The Dark Knight Rises', the Irish star isn't keen on being in anymore big movies for a while.

He said: ''I have lots of friends that live in Los Angeles, and they love it. I just feel like I'm European, and I want to do theater, and I want to do TV, and I want to do smaller films, and I love the big studio pictures, but I want to be near my family. It's just a priority.''

Cillian's next movie sees him star as a professional debunker of paranormal activities in Rodrigo Cortes' thriller 'Red Lights', and the helmer thought the actor's baby face and acting experience was ideal to portray the character.

In a joint-interview with the Chicago Tribune, the director said: ''I was very aware that he needed to be very innocent in the beginning with a very innocent gaze, like a Boy Scout or a young deer, but then he was going to enter another disturbing territory.''

This is fantastic news for us Brits. But will he do 'Letter from an Unknown Woman'? That's a wonderful film. Looks like we can safely pack away any notions of 50 Shades (wipes sweat from brow). Can we talk about Shakespeare? On the London stage - Macbeth, Lady Macbeth, Cleopatra, Iago, Brutus - please give Hamlet a miss. Could Cill and Danny Boyle do a Macbeth one night, Lady Macbeth the next. God what a fantastic thought.
