Chung 'Heartbroken' By Mtv Flop In America
The host moved Stateside to launch It's On with Alexa Chung in 2009 but the show ended after a six-month run following savage reviews.
Chung, who has fronted a string of top shows in her native U.K., admits she'd never experienced failure in her professional life before - and it hit her hard.
She tells Britain's Elle magazine, "I was really heartbroken. I hadn't had a tough time before that. I'd been brought up to believe that if you work really hard and try your best, everything will be fine. But it's not true.
"It just broke my spirit because I was already so exhausted. I felt as though I had handed over my life, left everyone and everything I knew, to try and start this thing, then for it to fail was like a punch in the face. I had to come back (to England) and sort of recharge."
