Christopher Plummer Won't Retire

Christopher Plummer thinks he may ''drop dead'' on a movie set.

The actor became the oldest star to win an Oscar when he picked up the Best Supporting Actor prize for his role in 'Beginners' at the age of 82 last night (26.02.12), and he revealed he will never retire and plans to continue for ''at least'' another decade.

He said: ''It has recharged me and I Hope I can do it for another 10 years at least. I'm going to drop dead wherever I am, on stage or on the set. We don't retire in our profession, thank god.''

The Canadian octogenarian also credited his third wife Elaine Taylor for keeping him on the straight and narrow throughout his life.

He said: ''I'm a naughty boy. I've been bad all my life, and she always puts me in line. I think it's great what she's done. It's extraordinary.''

Christopher plays an elderly man who comes out as gay in later life in the movie, and he has voiced his support for gay actors to play bigger roles in Hollywood.

Speaking backstage, he added: ''I think of actors as universally the same. Gay or straight. We're all actors. And a gay actor can play a straight guy beautifully - and vice versa.''
