Christopher Plummer - Christopher Plummer Refuses To Look Ahead To Oscars After Second Best Supporting Actor Win Of Awards Season

Christopher Plummer maybe content to focus for a bit on his hard-earned Screen Actors Guild award for Best Supporting Male Actor, won at the annual event's handing out ceremony last night, January 29th, but that's not good enough for a hungry press eagerly awaiting the apex of awards season. No sooner had the veteran actor picked up the prestigious SAG gong than he was pressed for questions about his chances at the biggest stage of them all, the Academy Awards.
Plummer's also up for a supporting actor nod there, but refused to be drawn on his thoughts about whether he might win or not. The Los Angeles Times reports that the 82 year-old replied to reporters outside LA's Shrine Auditorium "I can't talk about that yet, that's miles down the road." Referring to the question regarding the Oscars as "awful," he also quipped "No. I think it's frightfully boring," before continuing "[Actors] don't get into this business preoccupied by awards. If we did, we wouldn't last five minutes."
In truth Plummer doesn't really need to be nervous ahead of the finale of the awards season, the evergreen actor has a career that befits the very best with two Emmy Awards and two Tonys on his trophy cabinet among a slew of others. Admittedly an Oscar is missing from his CV, but the weekend's Screen Actors Guild recognition, coming on top of his recent Golden Globes triumph, have more than validated the quality of Plummer's portrayal of the character Harvey Fields in the much-lauded 'Beginners.'
