Christopher Nolan Looking To Make History With Batman 3

Christopher Nolan, the multi-award winning film director, has spoken about his forthcoming Batman movie, saying he hopes to 'do something that has never been done before', reports the Los Angeles Times. The director also confirmed that the follow-up to the acclaimed 'Dark Knight' will be named 'Dark Knight Rises.

In a surprising move, 40-year-old Nolan ruled out the possibility that the movie would follow smash hits such as 'Avatar' and be filmed in 3D, saying he did not want the innovative technology to detract from the movie itself. He added, "We want the look and feel of the film to be faithful to what has come before in the first two films. There was a large canvas and operatic sweep to The Dark Knight, and we want to make a film that will carry on with that look and feel". Nolan, who wrote this year's hit film 'Inception', said that he considers the next Batman film to be 'completing the story', adding, "This is not starting over, this is not rebooting. We're finishing something".

Speculation as to which of the 'Batman Villains' will feature in the new movie has begun to intensify, and the British actor Tom Hardy has been rumoured to be playing one of the superhero's arch enemies. Dark Knight Rises' is set to hit screens on July 20 2012.
