Christopher Kane's Lollipop Lfw Show
Christopher Kane's London Fashion Week show today (21.02.11) was inspired by lollipops and pencils cases.
The up-and-coming designer - who was recently named as the winner of the British Fashion Council/Vogue Fashion Fund - showcased his latest collection, in which he used plastics in shimmering, watercolour pastels and neons, to trim the neck and shoulders of fine black crepe and cashmere little black dresses.
Crochet was also used in the form of pencil skirts and fitted cardigans of sludgy greens and brown, turquoise and grey and while some dresses had panels missing at the midriff or necklines of gathered black netting, the main the shapes stayed true to Kane's clean style.
Kane said of the show and designs: "This will be known as 'The liquid collection.' It was inspired by the pencil cases I had at school and lollipops. But we didn't want it to be over elaborate - we wanted it to be about really wearable, sophisticated clothes.
"It's more minimal than anything I've done before. But it's time for a change. No more lace or any of that. I didn't want any decoration."
