Christina Ricci Shines On Broadway Debut
CHRISTINA RICCI, the multi-award winning Hollywood actress, was praised for her debut Broadway performance when she appeared in 'Time Stands Still', on 6th October 2010. The DONALD MARGULIES play also stars LAURA LINNEY and BRIAN D'ARYCY, but it was 30-year-old Ricci who won the plaudits as the stage-play began its run in New York.
The four-person play follows the lives of a female photojournalist and her writer boyfriend, who attempt to cope with the effects of her near-death experience while covering the Iraq War. The relationship becomes fraught when boyfriend James attempts to persuade Sarah to leave her dangerous job and join him in an altogether more peaceful life, but the avid photographer has other ideas. Ricci, who plays a New York event planner, gained rave reviews for her portrayal, with Reuters reporting, "Ricci makes a highly impressive stage debut, mining the laughs and poignancy in her portrayal of the guileless Mandy, who ultimately is far more appealing than the sophisticated figures surrounding her".
'Time Stands Still' is playing now at the Cort Theatre in New York, and will be performed eight-times a week until January 2011. Last week Ricci told the Press Association that being part of the production was "an incredible experience", adding, "It's totally different than anything I've ever done".
