Christina Aguilera and new beau Matthew Rutler were both taken into custody by Los Angeles police and booked on a misdemeanour charge of public intoxication, reports Tmz.com.The singer, who recently came under criticism for forgetting the words to the National Anthem during her Super Bowl performance, was arrested by authorities this morning (1st March 2011). Her boyfriend Rutler was held for driving under the influence and his bail has been set at $30,000. Law enforcement sources said that the singer was "extremely intoxicated" and "unable to take care of herself". After last month's 'Super Bowl' debacle, 30-year-old Aguilera almost tripped and fell on the stage whilst performing an all-star tribute to the soul legend Aretha Franklin at the Grammy Awards.

Christina Aguilera began dating Rutler in November 2010, just weeks after her split from husband Jordan Bratman. The pair met on the set of Christina's latest movie 'Burlesque', which also starred Cher and Julianne Hough.
