Christian Bale Stopped From Doing His Own Stunts
Bale plays the former boxing champion turned crack-cocaine addict DICKY EKLUND in 'The Fighter' and insists that he was ready to perform his own stunts in the movie before being told that taking falls and tumbles was too risky. Recalling one scene, the 36-year-old said he became upset after being told to step back so that a stuntman could dive through a window, he said, "I just got up there and I went, 'I'm jumping'... I've jumped from three-storey buildings in my own life after bad parties and stuff. The insurance came around... and they were just begging me not to". The actor fended off competition from the likes of Michael Douglas, Jeremy Renner, Geoffrey Rush and the hotly tipped Andrew Garfield to take home the award after Sunday's ceremony and he is now heavily favoured to scoop the same honour at the 2011 ACADEMY AWARDS.
Bale will reprise his role as Batman for Christopher Nolan's much anticipated new movie 'The Dark Knight Rises' which is set to begin filming later this year. The movie, also set to star Michael Caine, Gary Oldman and Tom Hardy, is scheduled for release on 20th July 2012.
