Chris Moyles - Chris Moyles Obliterated By Chris Evans In Ratings Figures

Chris Moyles has lost his crown as the most listened to breakfast DJ, after it was announced Chris Evans pulled in 1.7 million more listeners than his rival, according to the UK's Metro newspaper.
The former Virgin Radio boss averaged a weekly audience of 8.8 million in the third quarter of the year for his Radio 2 show, up a phenomenal 200,000 listeners on the previous three months. However, the outspoken Moyles appears to have lost some of his followers, with figures showing he was 300,000 listeners down, to 7.1 million a week. However, there was better news for Radio 1 overall, who recorded its highest weekly audiences since 1999, with 11.8 million tuning in to catch the likes of Scott Mills and Fearne Cotton. Despite Moyles' hammering by Evans, Radio 1's acting controller Ben Cooper remained upbeat, saying, "I am thrilled that we've achieved a record reach for Radio 1.Whether it was standing in a muddy field in wellies, or being in a club in Ibiza - this summer was all about us getting out and about reflecting the best live and new music from UK festivals and abroad". Radio 2 also increased its audience from 13.9 million to 14.9 million, partly thanks to the increasing popularity of Evans, who's often regarded as a mellower alternative to the famously loud Moyles.
Elsewhere, the newly released figures show how Classic FM and talkSport lost listeners, while the Capital Network climbed from 6.8 million to 7 million.
