Chris Isaak - Chris Isaak Honoured In New York
Veteran rocker Chris Isaak has been honoured as the Artist of the Year by a New York radio station.
The Wicked Game hitmaker was the toast of the Wfuv Spring Gala on Thursday (10May12) and he was humbled to follow in the footsteps of the award's previous honourees.
Accepting the prize, he said, "I don't really win awards... I'm thrilled to get this because I looked at the list of people who won the award like Los Lobos and Paul Simon; the list of people that were really way out of my league. I saw that list and I thought, 'Maybe I'm getting better,' or as my drummer would say, 'They probably just ran out of real good people.' Nonetheless I'm keeping the award!"
Isaak was also presented with the Sound & Vision Award at the annual fundraising event and treated guests at Manhattan's Gotham Hall to a rousing performance of his hits, including covers of Johnny Cash's Ring of Fire, Elvis Presley's It's Now or Never, and Jerry Lee Lewis' Great Balls of Fire.
The bash also featured a live auction, which saw one music fan snap up a pair of front row tickets to see blues star Bonnie Raitt in concert in the Big Apple and meet her backstage for $5,000 (£3,125).
