Chris Evans Didn't Want Captain America Role
Chris Evans didn't want to star in 'Captain America: The First Avenger'.
The 29-year-old actor was concerned about accepting the leading part in the Marvel action movie because he knew future sequels may stop him from being able to take part in other projects he is interested in.
He said: "I didn't want to do this movie. I said no, I think, three times. I had serious doubts.
"If these movies do well, I could be playing this guy until I'm 40. What if I want to quit acting? What if I want to move to India? You can't, you have a contract. It's terrifying!"
However, he was eventually brought round to the idea by The Script and realising he was a "great" character.
He told Total Film: "I loved the character. He's a good guy. Even if nobody's looking. He's got nothing, he can't do anything, but he's OK with it. He does the right thing, not for the praise but because it's the right thing."
'Captain America: The First Avenger' - which also stars Stanley Tucci and Hugo Weaving - is due for release later this summer.
