Chris Colfer Accepts Kurt's Glee Departure

Chris Colfer has reacted to news his Glee character will "graduate" in the current season and therefore not return next year. Colfer accepted the decision, claiming "it was bound to happen sooner or later", reports Entertainment Weekly.

Glee co-creator Ryan Murphy revealed the news to the Hollywood Reporter, saying, "You can keep them on the show for six years and people will criticize you for not being realistic, or you can be really true to life and say when they started the show they were very clearly sophomores and they should graduate." Colfer admits he didn't know the age of his character upon joining the show but accepted the decision nevertheless, saying, "It was bound to happen sooner or later.I always assumed that Kurt was very young in the original scripts. I knew he was 16, but I didn't know what grade. Then when it was announced I was leaving, I was like, 'I guess it's our senior year next year!". Chris acknowledged his departure is a let-down for fans of the character, saying, "I would love to pull a Farrah Fawcett from Charlie's Angels and come back every 10th episode," he said. "I'd be the obnoxious recurring star!"

Despite his Glee exit, Chris Colfer is now turning his attention to the 2011 Emmy Awards, in which he is nominated for 'Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy', alongside Ty Burrell, Jesse Tyler Ferguson and Jon Cryer of 'Two and a Half Men'.
