Chris Brown - Chris Brown's Fortune Fails To Impress Critics

The 'Turn Up The Music' singer's fifth studio album follows on the heels of his 2011 record F.A.M.E, which debuted at No. 1 on the U.S. Billboard 200 album chart last year and went on to win a Grammy Award. If critical response to the album is anything to go by then it looks as though he will struggle to regain that level of success again. So far, the album stands with a less than admirable score of 40 out of 100 on the review website Metacritic.com, with most critics giving damning reviews and a few giving a more mixed reception. On both sides of the Atlantic critics have given unflattering reports on the album, with Time magazine's Melissa Locker calling the album "boring" and urging readers to avoid buying it. Likewise the Bbc's Nick Levine described the work as "unremarkable mid-tempo RnB," and called it "cripplingly pointless."

Still, the poor reviews look as though they have failed to deter most fans of the bad-boy singer, as Fortune topped the iTunes album chart after its release on Tuesday. Brown has also been defiant with the music press, refusing interviews and plugging the album continually himself through Twitter.
