Chloe Moretz To Play Lead In Horror Remake 'Carrie'

Chloe Moretz has been offered a role in the remake of 'Carrie,' the 15 year-old revealing the news on her Twitter account. It keeps up the actress's reputation for often appearing in dark and harrowing thrillers or dramas - though she has also appeared in 'Kick Ass' and last year took many plaudits for her role in 'Hugo.' A child sensation, she made her big screen debut aged seven, really coming to prominence in the same year when she appeared in 2005's 'The Amityville Horror' and this is a return to those sorts of climbs for Moretz.

Taking on Twitter, the star told her fans the news, saying "Never been so happy in my life! Thank you Kim Peirce and thank u Mgm for the chance of a lifetime I will never forget!" Before she appears, Moretz will be starring in Tim Burton's 'Dark Shadows' alongside Johnny Depp, Eva Green and Michelle Pfeiffer.

The original 'Carrie' film saw Sissy Spacek receive an Oscar nomination and a Best Actress award from the National Society of Film Critics for her original portrayal of the high school student in the 1976 Brian De Palma big-screen adaptation of Stephen King's novel. Jodie Foster and Julianne Moore could still play Carrie's religious fanatic mother, according to The Press Association.

Miss Moretz should be able to do quite well in that role. I'm looking forward to seeing who else is cast.
