Child's Pose - Child's Pose Triumphs At Berlinale

Romanian drama Child's Pose has been named Best Film at the Berlinale film festival in Germany.

Director Calin Peter Netzer's movie, about a wealthy mother who tries to use her social status to save her son from jail, picked up the coveted Golden Bear for best picture at the Berlin event on Saturday (16Feb13).

Netzer admitted he was "a little bit speechless" after seeing off competition from 18 other contenders to scoop the prestigious prize.

The evening's most surprising turn came when Nazif Mujic, an unemployed Bosnian Roma, landed the best actor award for playing himself in An Episode in the Life of an Iron Picker, about his family's real-life financial struggles.

Best actress went to Chilean star Paulina Garcia for her role as a divorcee in Gloria, while American filmmaker David Gordon Green won best director for Prince Avalanche.
