Dave Grohl and Chevy Metal Cover 'Under Pressure' And The Crowd Love It
Dave Grohl's 'fun time' band cover a classic in the shape of 'Under Pressure' by Queen and David Bowie
It’s not often Dave Grohl plays with Chevy Metal, but when he does, it’s a special affair. The Foo Fighters star – joined by fellow Foos Taylor Hawkins and Chris Shiflett – gave the loving audience a rendition of Queen’s hit, 'Under Pressure' at a recent gig.
Dave Grohl and his classic clenched teeth smile
"I don't get to play with Chevy Metal all the time," Grohl declared while strumming an extended intro to the song. "It's the one band in the world I wish I could be in, but the f**king drummer's the boss.”
As the famous bassline continued, so did Grohl. "What can I do? Every once in a while I get a phone call [telling me], 'OK, you're allowed to play one show'. And they let me come play with my favourite f**king band in the world, Chevy Metal."
It wasn’t long before they were delighting the audience, most of which would have been Foo Fighters fans, with their version of the 80s classic and those fans can look forward to a new album from Grohl and his buddies.
"We're getting started. We're getting our ideas together. Dave [Grohl] has his brain working overtime, like usual," drummer Taylor Hawkins told Billboard. "He's got a lot of great ideas, both musically and conceptually - none that I can speak of at this moment, but it's gonna be great. It's gonna be cool."
The Foo Fighters are coming back with a new album
Given the success of the band, and their style of rock music, the band have to be careful as the pressure to put out a record more successful than the last is palpable.
"You always think you haven't done your best one. Although some people may feel we have, I still think we haven't written our 'Hotel California' or our 'Bohemian Rhapsody' or whatever,” he explained. "You should always be a little scared. Every time you start a record, you have to be ready to f**king kill yourself or it's not gonna be any good."
