Cher praised her son Chaz Bono's bravery during a private screening of his revealing sex-swap documentary at her home over the weekend (30Apr-01May11).
The 41 year old, who was born a girl called Chastity, allowed directors Fenton Bailey and Randy Barbato to film him as he underwent gender reassignment surgery in 2008.
The documentary, titled Becoming Chaz, features footage of Bono preparing to go under the knife to remove his breasts.
The Believe hitmaker has previously revealed she struggled to get used to having a son instead of a daughter, and admitted she often makes Chaz angry by referring to him by his birth name.
To show her support for his life-changing decision, the singer invited pals round to her Malibu, California home to watch the movie, according to People.com.
An insider tells the publication, "Cher and 10 of her and Chaz's friends stood up and cheered when it was over," before revealing that Cher addressed the guests to say, "I admire my son Chaz's courage for sharing his personal journey. Most important to me is that he is very happy. That's what I care about the most. He has my love and support."
