Charlie Sheen - Charlie Sheen's 'Anger Management' Attracts 3 Bids, Fx Wins

Charlie Sheen's return to television will take place on FX, after the channel fought off competition from several other networks to land 'Anger Management', a show based loosely on the Hollywood movie of the same name, starring Adam Sandler and Jack Nicholson.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, "at least three cable networks bid on the project", but FX came away with a deal for 10 episodes, with a view to acquire a further 90. The show has gathered a huge amount of media attention, given Sheen's tumultuous year that has seen the Hollywood star sacked from Two and a Half Men, head out on a one-man tour and file a $100 million lawsuit against former employers Warner Bros. With that in mind, Sheen is likely to suit his new role, which sees him playing a troubled therapist who begins to drive his patients up-the-wall with his strange techniques and peculiar behaviour. FX Networks head John Landgraf called the new series a "wonderful, hilarious vehicle for Charlie's acting talents". The channel, owned by News Corporation's Fox, already boasts popular shows such as The Shield, Damages, Rescue Me, Nip/Tuck and Sons of Anarchy - the latter considered its highest rated series, pulling in an average of 4.9 viewers per week. However, bosses will be hoping figures for Anger Management almost double that, considering Ashton Kutcher's debut on Two and a Half Men pulled in 27 million.
Anger Management, produced by Joe Roth, is expected to premiere in early 2012. Sheen has previously worked with Roth on movies Major League, Young Guns and the Three Musketeers.
