Charlie Sheen - Charlie Sheen To Hold Fundraiser For Tornado Victims

Charlie Sheen has vowed to hold a fundraiser for tornado survivors in Alabama.

The former 'Two and Half Men' actor paid a visit to Tuscaloosa - where at least 200 people died last week after the area was struck by a number of twisters - and he now plans to organise either a baseball game or "multimedia show" with celebrity pals to raise money for those affected by the natural disasters.

Yesterday (02.05.11), he told local reporters: "We're just going to ask them to drop everything and get down here.

"I'm hopeful that I can do whatever I can to lend support, compassion and hope."

During his visit he praised the city's mayor Walt Maddox, local volunteers and Federal Emergency Management Agency personnel for everything they had done for those affected and revealed he decided to visit after performing a show in Denver on Sunday night (01.05.11) when fans appealed to him through micro-blogging website twitter.

He added: "I wanted to see it for myself. I'm here to bring the focus of the world down. I'm on a bit of a recon mission and then we're going to plan a fundraiser and come back in full force."

The troubled star - who is currently touring his one-man comedy show 'My Violent Torpedo of Truth/Defeat is Not an Option' - plans to hold the fundraiser at the University of Alabama.

Before his visit to the devastated area, Charlie tweeted: "Alabama; Heading your way. On a recon mission. My Cadre right behind me. You need help. I'm bringing it. DogSpeed. C (sic)"

While he was there he took to his twitter page again, writing: "I'm in Tuscaloosa. It's beyond words. Info coming soon on how you can all help."
