Roman Coppola - Charlie Sheen Hailed By Roman Coppola Ahead Of Movie Comeback

Director Roman Coppola had no qualms about handing Charlie Sheen his comeback movie role following his highly-publicised meltdown last year (11), insisting the star is an "underused talent".
Sheen was fired from sitcom Two and a Half Men in March 2011, following a series of odd antics which began with the star trashing a hotel room in New York the previous September (10).
His public feud with producers and series creator Chuck Lorre finally cost him his job on the show - and sent the actor on a downward spiral, during which he spent several weeks making bizarre public appearances before hitting the road on an ill-advised comedy tour.
The actor has since turned his life around and signed on to play the titular character in Coppola's new indie movie A Glimpse Inside the Mind of Charlie Swan Iii - and the moviemaker is adamant Sheen is "the best person" for the part.
He tells New York Post's gossip colum Page Six, "Charlie is a sort of an underused talent. When you're making a movie, you want to get the best person for the role. The character is someone who was very charming, very witty, who is dealing with a personal breakup - so (he) has the capacity to be very angry, has the capacity to be very playful, and Charlie has all those qualities...
"He's just a great actor that recognised the material I had is something he resonated with. And frankly, it's kind of a thrill (to be the one) who gets to put him back out there in that way. Talented people... sometimes have other things that happen (in) their lives that make them no less talented. I'm feeling very pleased I got the chance to break him (out) again."
Sheen last appeared on the big screen in 2010, making cameo appearances in Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps and Due Date, as well as an uncredited cameo in outtakes for this year's (12) Madea's Witness Protection.
