McDonalds Approach Charles Ramsey After Kidnap Video Goes Viral

Fast-food chain McDonalds says it has approached Charles Ramsey after he became an internet sensation following his discovery of three women who were being held in captive in Cleveland. Ramsey, who lives in the neighbourhood where the women were found, said he was eating a McDonalds when he heard a commotion down the street - subsequently helping the kidnapped women escape.

Ramsey made a note of his fast-food chain in his initial 911 call before telling a local TV station about it too. Danya Proud, a spokeswoman for McDonalds, said that the company is trying to reach out to Ramsay through its local franchise. She confirmed that the company wanted to speak with Ramsey directly given the sensitivity of the situation rather than communicating with him through the media, "This is a very tragic situation and we can't lose sight of that," she said. On Tuesday, the fast-food company said on Twitter, "We salute the courage of Ohio kidnap victims & respect their privacy. Way to go Charles Ramsey - we'll be in touch."

Ramsey, who has been hailed as a hero in the aftermath of the rescue, told WEWS-TV, "I heard screaming. I'm eating my McDonald's. I come outside. I see this girl going nuts trying to get out of a house. We kick the bottom and she comes out with a little girl and she says: 'Call 911. My name is Amanda Berry."

Ramsey's interview went viral after he delivered a barrage of quotable lines on camera. "I knew something was wrong when a little pretty white girl ran into black man's arms. Dead giveaway. DEAD GIVEAWAY. Either she's homeless or she's got problems!" he said.
