Charity Song Was Perfect Opportunity For Solange Knowles And Taylor Collaboration
The pair has teamed up with emerging musician Twin Shadow for Kenya, a 'donate to download' song for the Replenish Africa Initiative (Rain), which aims to provide more widespread access to clean water across the continent.
Knowles admits she had no idea Taylor was producing the track for The Coca-Cola Africa Foundation's campaign until director Natalie Johns asked her to get involved - and the singer saw it as the perfect opportunity to turn their collaboration dreams into reality for a good cause.
She tells WENN, "Natalie Johns, the director of the short clip that has been circulating with the song, she reached out to me and told me about this project and told me that Chris was mixing the sounds she'd collected from Africa and producing it into a track.
"It was kind of a full circle because I actually knew Chris personally prior to this and I don't think she realised that. Me and Chris had actually talked about doing something separately, so when the opportunity presented itself, and this specific campaign, it just felt like the right time. To share our collaboration for something like this, I think was way more special and appealing to me."
