Charges Against Surfers Protecting Mcconaughey Dropped
Los Angeles authorities have decided to drop charges against two surfers accused of attacking photographers who were following MATTHEW MCCONAUGHEY on a beach in Malibu, California.
Skylar Peak and Philip Hildebrand were arrested and charged with misdemeanour battery after confronting snappers as they tried to get shots of the actor on the sand in June 2008.
The surfers allegedly threw one photographer into the water as he tried to shoot pictures, while another snapper claims he was attacked and his camera was thrown into the sea by the pair.
The trial was twice declared a mistrial - in March (10) it was called off after Peak's mother was seriously injured in a car crash, while in June (10) the jury failed to reach a verdict.
The pair was back in court on Friday (02Jul10) and was told the Los Angeles County district attorney's office has decided to dismiss the case.
