Everett's acting career spanned over 40 years and included a number of guest roles on Us Tv shows, such as 'The Love Boat,' 'Without A Trace' and 'Murder, She Wrote.' Most recently, he appeared in the TV series 'Castle.' He also has a number of film credits to his name, including Gus Van Sant's 'Psycho' as well as 'The Jigsaw Murders' and 'The Firechasers.' He was best known, though for his role as Dr. Joe Gannon in 'Medical Centre. He was nominated for a Golden Globe twice for his performance as the doctor. The series ran for seven years and Everett's character was a prominent feature of the show which, at the time, was tied with 'Marcus Welby, M.D.' as the longest running medical drama.
His interest in acting began when he was in high school, when he began to take theatre lessons. In 1972, he made headlines when he referred to his wife, horse and dog as "property" on a chat show. His comments enraged fellow guest Lily Tomlin, who stormed off the set of the show.
