Chace Crawford Dances Out Of Footloose
Chace Crawford is the second leading man to pull out of the remake of 1984 classic 'Footloose'.
Chace Crawford has pulled out of the 'Footloose' remake.
The 24-year-old actor was initially cast after first choice Zac Efron decided against making the movie in a bid to pull away from musical films.
However, Chace has pulled out due to his busy shooting schedule for TV show 'Gossip Girl' this summer, Entertainment Weekly reports.
He had been due to play the lead character Ren McCormack - originally played by Kevin Bacon - in the reimagining.
It is believed an unknown may now be cast in the remake, sparking a US-wide search for a new star.
The film has been beset with problems since it was announced - five months after Chace was signed up for the movie, its director Kenny Ortega dropped out, leading to Paramount abandoning its most recent script from Susannah Grant.
Upon its release in 1984, 'Footloose' was nominated for two Oscars and featured an early performance from 'Sex and the City' star Sarah Jessica Parker.
The movie is set to go into production this summer.
