Celine Dion Scraps Another 10 Shows Due To Vocal Chord Problems
The singer scrapped her shows at the Colosseum at Caesar's Palace this week (begs27Feb12) after she was told to rest up by doctors, and now she has axed all her shows until 18 March (12).
Dion has been diagnosed with weakness in her right vocal chord.
The cancellations mean Dion will not return to the stage this spring. Her next scheduled date is 9 June (12).
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the singer flew to Los Angeles on Monday (27Feb12) and was examined by Gerald Berke at UCLA Medical Center. He prescribed six to eight weeks of voice rest.
In a statement, Dion says, "I tried to sing at my soundcheck last week, and I had no control of my voice whatsoever. We thought that after a few days rest I would improve, but it wasn't getting any better... I guess it was worse than I thought...
"Obviously, this is the worst thing for a singer, not being able to do your shows. I feel worse knowing that I'm disappointing my fans. I'm so sorry, I hope they forgive me."
