Celebrity chef Ross Burden has died, aged 45.

Burden passed away unexpectedly on 17 July (14) at Auckland City Hospital in his native New Zealand following complications with his cancer treatment.

His sister Kirsten Hughes told the New Zealand Herald that Burden was diagnosed with leukaemia last year (13) but died from an infection stemming from a bone marrow transplant.

The culinary expert was most famous in the U.K. for his appearances on kitchen programmes MasterChef and Ready Steady Cook. He also hosted MasterChef New Zealand in 2010.
