Catherine Zeta Jones - Catherine Zeta Jones To Play Music Hating Villain
Catherine Zeta Jones, the Welsh actress and star of 'Chicago', is set to play a "music-hating villain" in the forthcoming movie 'Rock of Ages', according to the Hollywood Reporter. Catherine Zeta Jones is in final negotiations to join the movie, which is based on the award winning Broadway musical.
The story follows a small-town girl who travels to Hollywood in the mid 1980's in search of the "big-haired sound". Zeta Jones character did not feature in the Broadway version and has been created especially for the movie. Director Adam Shankman describes the villain as being the product of a "Tipper Gore and Anita Bryant love child". When pressed on Zeta-Jones' potential involvement, Shankman said, "It's like the musical gods just blessed us". The production has already attracted an all-star cast, with Tom Cruise, Alec Baldwin, R&B singer Mary J Blige, Paul Giamatti and newcomer Julianne Hough all set to appear. Shooting is scheduled to begin on 19 May 2011 with a release date set for 2012. Zeta Jones famously scooped the 'Best Supporting Actress' OSCAR for the performance in the 2002 movie adaptation of the musical 'Chicago'.
Catherine Zeta Jones hit the headlines earlier this month after revealing that she had received treatment for bipolar disorder. She told People Magazine, "This is a disorder that affects millions of people and I am one of them. If my revelation of having bipolar II has encouraged one person to seek help, then it is worth it".
