Carrie Fisher - Carrie Fisher Back In The Saddle For Star Wars Episode 7

Carrie Fisher has confirmed she will reprise her role as Princess Leia in 'Star Wars 7'.

The actress - who appeared in the original 'Star Wars' trilogy between 1977 and 1983 along with Harrison Ford and Mark Hamill - has revealed she will be part of Disney's upcoming sequel directed by J.J. Abrams.

Asked if she would be joining the cast, she told Palm Beach Illustrated magazine: ''Yes''.

The 56-year-old actress said her beloved character would be ''just like she was before'', only ''slower and older''.

She quipped: ''[She's] elderly. She's in an intergalactic old folks' home. I just think she would be just like she was before, only slower and less inclined to be up for the big battle.''

Carrie went on to suggest the character's iconic gold bikini and ''bagel bun'' hairstyle will be seen in the new film.

She said: ''The bagel buns and the bikini, because probably she has Sundowners' Syndrome. At sundown, she thinks that she's 20-something. And she puts it on and gets institutionalised.''

Carrie last played Leia in 1983's 'Return of the Jedi', in which it was revealed she was Luke Skywalker's twin sister. In the later trilogy released between 1999 and 2005, which serve as a prequel to the original films, it is revealed her mother is Padme Amidala who is played by Natalie Portman.

Along with Carrie, Harrison Ford is rumoured to be reprising his role as Han Solo, while Mark Hamill - who played protagonist Luke - has expressed interest in returning to the space saga too.
