Carol Vorderman - Carol Vorderman Told 'Cover Up' By Pride Of Britain Bosses
Carol Vorderman was ordered to tone down her 'Pride of Britain' outfit by Itv bosses after last year's dress was deemed too revealing. The 50-year-old former 'Countdown' star was advised to wear "a more appropriate dress" than her 2010 outfit which courted controversy, reports the UK's Daily Mail.
Vorderman, the regular host of the event, caused a stir last year after wearing a revealing black Suzanne Neville gown. At the time, England cricket star Michael Vaughan came under fire for tweeting, "She has definitely treated herself to a couple of new friends... Big friends at that ... Why not?? That's what I say? great viewing". However, Itv bosses do not want a repeat of the attention heaped on Vorderman's choice of outfit, with a source saying, "In hindsight, everyone agreed that Carol's outfit last year had gone too far for a family show, especially as it deals with such harrowing issues. As a result, one executive had a conversation with her and it was agreed that she would wear something more appropriate for the ceremony". This year's show took place at The Grosvenor House Hotel in London on Monday evening, and will be broadcast on Wednesday (5th October 2011). The television presenter appeared to heed the advice of Itv bosses - opting for a figure hugging Amanda Wakely silver gown.
Vorderman, presently hosting the daily Itv1 show 'Loose Women', is currently single after splitting from journalist and Daily Mail sports columnist Des Kelly last year. She has been married twice previously.
