Carol Channing's Dress Swiped From Hollywood Hotel
Hollywood and Broadway veteran CAROL CHANNING is at the centre of a police investigation after a cheeky thief stole a famous dress from her hotel room.
The authorities were called to the Hollywood Renaissance Hotel on Thursday (13Sep07) after the actress and comedienne reported the garment she was planning to donate to the Smithsonian museum complex in New York after one final photoshoot had been swiped.
Channing, 86, wore the dress over 700 times as Lorelei Lee in the stage production of Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, according to TMZ.com.
According to the website, the hotel surveillance camera has a shot of a person of interest, which has been given to police.
