Carly Rae Jepsen's 'Call Me Maybe' Is Officially The Song Of The Summer
We're not entirely sure how the songs were rated. Possibly something simple like record sales. Or perhaps something a little more scientific, like recording how long the horrified screams were audible after playing the songs in a room full of innocent citizens at the end of summer. Carly Rae Jepsen's debut hit 'Call Me Maybe' spent nine weeks perched atop the Billboard Hot 100, thanks in no small part to the young pop tyrant Justin Bieber announcing shamelessly to all of his 20 million Twitter followers how much he liked the song. We can only pray that this latest news doesn't send the song back up to the top of the charts and into endless radio airplay rotation.
Carly Rae Jepsen is only the fourth woman to have been landed with the Song of the Summer accolade. Previous female title-winners include Christina Aguilera's 'Genie in a Bottle', Mariah Carey's 'Vision of Love' and Katy Perry's 'I Kissed A Girl'. All of which are every bit as irritating as 'Call Me Maybe.'
