Carlos Santana Booed After Immigration Rant

Carlos Santana, the influential American-Mexican guitarist, was booed by some sections of the Atlanta Braves' 'Turner Field' yesterday (15th May 2011) following a rant about the state's immigration policy. Carlos Santana was at the stadium to receive Major League Baseball's 'Beacon of Change' award, but after taking the microphone he said the city of Atlanta should be "ashamed" for passing certain immigration bills, reports Usa Today.

The recent bills have been widely regarded as racially motivated, and the Grammy Award winning artist criticised the decision during his acceptance speech. The new bill will controversially allow law enforcement officers to check the immigration status of some suspects. Santana blasted the legislation, saying, "Most people at this point they are either afraid to really say what needs to be said, this is the United States the land of the free.If people want the immigration law to keep passing in every state then everybody should get out and just leave the American Indians here. This is about civil rights". The guitarist also spoke with the media during the Phillies-Braves game and called for a boycott by Latin workers in Georgia, saying, "I would invite all Latin people to do nothing for about two weeks so you can see who really, really is running the economy. Who cleans the sheets? Who cleans the toilets? Who babysits?".

Carlos Santana immigrated to San Francisco in the 1960's and soon became one of the world's most famous musicians. He has since won 10 Grammy Awards and 3 Latin Grammy Awards.

Oh-Yeah...One More Thing- Devamitta. "Truth To Power" only works when "TRUTH" is what is being told. Mr Santana's racist propaganda and lies are "NOT TRUTH"....therefore no "POWER" should be attributed to his words.

Carlos Santana is nothing more than the racist he claims "ALL" Americans are. I find it interesting and depicable the crap he had to say about Americans. what is interesting is how he claims Americans ar racists...yet there he was "Segregating Mexican People" from even hispanic Americans...as if to say Mexican people are better than anyone in America. if that is true Mr Santana...than why is it we keep hearing about all the hoorors of living in Mexico, under the rule of Mexican people ? you can take your racist propaganda and stick it mr. Santana. No...we don't want more "MEXICAN" illegal aliens here. no we don't want them taking jobs "WE NEED". no..we don't think Mexican people should have the right to violate our borders and laws. no one else from any other country gets to come here illegally...why should the largest group of illegal aliens be allowed to stay. what you are saying is that "Mexican People" should be able to do "Whatever They Want" here in "MY COUNTRY"...that is segregating mexican people into a catagory above the law while everyone has to oney the law.this is what tells me you are a racist Mr Santana...because you believed Mexican people.."Are Better Than Everyone Else"...if that isn't racist...than I don't know what is. here in America all "CITIZENS" are treated equally under the law. anyone who cries racism because "THEIR" people are breaking the law...and not getting away with it...can't see the forest through the trees. Americans are "ALL" Americans. Saudis are all Saudis, Irish are all Irish...and by God Mexicans are Mexicans. being on this side of the U.S. border doesn't make anyone a citizen, or give them the right to work here...no matter where they are from. you are a racist Mr Santana. you only care about MEXICAN" people...the rest of us you feel are beneath you..and that makesa "YOU THE RACIST"...not us !

The pro-illegal immigrant side likes to say the US stole the Southwest from Mexico. This is NOT true. The US military kicked the a$$ of the Mexican army all the way to Mexico City. The United States was kind enough to allow Mexico to keep a large part of what is now Mexico, and PAID Mexico millions of dollars for the land it kept. The citizens of the Southwest, who OWNED the land, stayed there. Most of those citizens were GRATEFUL to be FREE from the rule of the incompetent Mexican government. They WANTED the US to step in to protect them form the banditos and Indians the Mexican government wouldn't, or couldn't. Somewhat as it is today. Too bad our "leaders" today care less for Americans than LEADERS back then cared for Mexicans.Regarding the taking of lands from the Native Americans. It may be sad, for some, that all stagnate cultures fall to more advanced ones, but not me. It didn't just occur in America, it was/is every where. Americans are the only ones soft hearted enough to allow themselves to feel ashamed for it. As my grandmother, a Cherokee, said, "The white man my have taken our lands, but he gave me and my children a better life for it." She was smart enough to know that the Europeans made a silk purse of sow's ear. They kicked and beat others along the way. What country has not? Mexico? All of you who want to legalize the border jumpers need to take a good look at Mexico. If we don't stop illegal immigration, the US will be, in twenty years, another cesspool country like most of Latin America. Is that what you want for you and your children? If it is, why would you think you have the right to force that upon me and my children? You don't. Nor does Carlos Santana. He, and you, should work to change Latin America to be more like the US, not the other way. Carlos should go back down to Mexico and try that, "truth to power" bs with those who need to hear it.

Carlos Santana spoke truth to power. The people united will never be defeated. Right on Carlos. Many people don't realize that NAFTA and CAFTA, which are treaties that enrich the corporations on the backs of workers, is responsible for over two million Mexican farmers being unable to compete with subsidized American corn. To make the immigrants to be bad people because they want to feed their families, just like all other human beings, shows what an small-minded and ignorant population that is here in the US. So easy to scapegoat those who look different, The undocumented workers I know work harder than morst Americans, and they do the work most all Americans will not do. The add to the economy and get little from it. If we looke at history, we see we stole all the land from those that were here for thousands of years, and we in fact stole Texas, Arizona, New Mexico and California from Mexico. Carlos Santana is a brave man for speaking truth, something many in our country wouldn't even know if it smacked them in the face.
