Carey Hoped To Be 'Kidnapped' From Loveless Life
MARIAH CAREY was so depressed before rushing down the aisle with new husband NICK CANNON, she often dreamed of being "kidnapped" from her loveless life.
The R+B superstar wed toyboy Cannon in April (08) after a whirlwind six-week romance, and admits they didn't want to hear from family and friends who thought the wedding was premature.
And the star admits love woes stemming from her first marriage to music executive Tommy Mottola led her to daydream of a fairytale romance.
She tells the U.S. edition of Elle magazine, "When I was in an unhappy place in my life ... I always wanted to be kidnapped. I just wanted a way out, but I didn't have one."
Carey claims she got her wish after rapper/actor Cannon whisked her away on a helicopter ride to propose - for the second time.
She adds, "He sort of kidnapped me and took me on a helicopter ride. Then he re-proposed."
