Actor and Tv puppeteer Cosmo Allegretti has died at the age of 86.
The children's entertainer passed away in Arizona on 26 July (13) after suffering from lung condition emphysema, but news of his death was only released on Wednesday (07Aug13).
Allegretti began working as a set painter after landing the job on the longrunning Captain Kangaroo kids' series in the 1970s, but scored his big break after volunteering to make new puppets when show bosses were left dissatisfied with other professional creations.
He created and voiced characters Dancing Bear, Grandfather Clock, Mr. Bunny Rabbit and Mr. Moose, while he was also known for giving life to Rollo the Hippopotamus, Miss Worm, Cornelius the Walrus and Dennis the Handyman, among others during his five-year stint on the show.
As an actor, Allegretti appeared 1981 film Prince of the City and Al Pacino's Author! Author! comedy in 1982.
