Captain America Is A Hit With The Critics
CAPTAIN AMERICA hits big screens across the world next week, and early signs are good for one of the biggest summer blockbusters of this year. The new movie, full title Captain America: The First Avenger has been praised by most of the key critics, with Kenneth Turan in the LA Times commenting on Chris Evans' performance as the title character as 'stirring', which makes the movie ".anything but just another superhero film." Claudia Puig writing in USA Today said: "Yes, the characters are cartoonish (they're comic book heroes, after all), but this is the kind of old-fashioned popcorn entertainment summer is made for." A.O Scott in the New York Times continued the praise, claiming the film ".Has a winningly pulpy, jaunty, earnest spirit."
Yesterday we reported that British actress Hayley Atwell, who plays the female lead, Peggy Carter, in the film, would like to reprise her role in a sequel. She told Collider.com: "I'd love to play her again, she's such a strong character and so capable. There were a lot more stunts that I did that didn't make it into the film, there's so much more I would love to do to challenge myself, action, stunts, beating people up." Captain America: The First Avenger opens in cinemas worldwide on 29th July, and in North America this weekend (22nd July).
