Cantona To Show His Moves In New Filmby Contributor | 22 May 2009
Footballer-turned-actor ERIC CANTONA has been signed up to star in French film MOVES.
Directed by HERVE P GUSTAVE also known as HPG, the film sees the former Manchester United starring as a martial arts student who connects with an outsider named Marion, who longs to have a child.
The part of Marion will be played by Cantona's real-life girlfriend RACHIDA BRACKNI.
MOVES, which will go by the title Les Mouvements Du Bassin or Pelvis Moves on the continent, is currently in preproduction and filming is expected to commence this autumn.
Cantona has recently been receiving star treatment at the famed Cannes Film Festival, garnering praise for his role in KEN LOACH's LOOKING FOR ERIC.
He appears as himself in the movie, giving inspirational chats to the central character, a middle-aged Manchester mailman also named Eric.
The film has been nominated for the prestigious Palme d'Or accolade, along with QUENTIN TARANTINO's latest offering INGLOURIOUS BASTERDS and films by ANG LEE and JANE CAMPION.
