Adele - Can Anyone Stop Adele Dominating The Grammys?
Adele looks poised to clean up at the Grammy Awards this coming weekend; the British singing sensation may have been nominated in less categories than Kanye West, but she's up for all the main ones including Album Of The Year, Record Of The Year and Song Of The Year as well as Best Pop Vocal Album, Best Short Form Music Video and Best Pop Solo Performance. There will be a sense of unfinished business for the 23 year-old as well, after throat surgery cut short a course that was set to seemingly take over both recorded and live markets in the US. The first part was done as the star's second album '21' sold a whopping 5.82 million copies in the country, yet with a full nationwide tour scheduled for the Autumn, Adele was forced to cancel following the ongoing issues with her throat.
However, not only should the Grammys see her bounce back from her disappointing winter, she'll also be making her live singing return at the event which'll see a host of other stars take to the stage including the recently reformed Beach Boys, the Foo Fighters, Rihanna and the controversially included Chris Brown. Though Adele faces strong competitors in her categories including the aforementioned RiRi and Foos, as well as Katy Perry and Lady Gaga and among others, it would be a surprise if she weren't to take the majority of the categories she was in.
She shouldn't get too hasty with any assumptions though, last year's favourite for dominance was a returning to form Eminem who'd bounced back with his album 'Recovery.' Yet he founded himself ousted by a number of shock results, including the triumph of Canadian band Arcade Fire in the coveted 'Best Album' category. There may be a twist in the tail yet.
