Sir Cameron Mackintosh is hoping to make a movie of hit stage show Miss Saigon if the upcoming big screen version of Les Miserables is a success.

The theatre mogul's long-running production of Les Miserables, based on the book by Victor Hugo, is heading to cinemas later this year (12) with Hugh Jackman and Anne Hathaway in starring roles.

MACkintosh has now revealed he is praying the movie performs well at the box office because it would lead to a film makeover for Miss Saigon, the stage show based on Giacomo Puccini's opera Madame Butterfly.

He tells Britain's Daily Telegraph, "If Les Mis is a success then Miss Saigon will be made into a film. It isn't confirmed at this point but there are many people sniffing around and offers coming in."
