Call It "April Madness" As Hoops Draw Big Ratings
We may be well into April, but March Madness continued to dominate television viewing Monday night, as CBS's telecast of the NCAA Men's Basketball Championship attracted an average of 20.71 million viewers, peaking at 10:00 p.m. with 21.81 million viewers. Earlier in the evening NBC's The Voice showed growing strength as well. While the talent contest has generally wound up in first place among younger viewers, it has taken a back seat to ABC's Dancing with the Stars among total viewers. Such was not the case on Monday however, as The Voice took over the lead in both categories. Among the 18-49 crowd, the show posted a 4.9 rating and a 13 share. It also drew 13.67 million viewers. Dancing, on the other hand, drew a 2.0/5 among younger viewers and wound up with 12.94 million viewers. It was the lowest-rated performance telecast ever for Dancing..
