Cale Honoured By Charles, Prince Of Wales
20 November 2010The British rocker, a founding member of the influential American band, was handed the prestigious medal by Charles, Prince of Wales in recognition of his services to music over four decades.
Cale, who arrived at the ceremony at Buckingham Palace with his hair dyed bright pink and blue, admitted it felt "strange" to receive the honour but insisted it would have made his Welsh mum Margaret very happy.
He said, "My mother would be very proud if she were alive today."
