Cagney And Lacey Star Shocked By Fans' Cop Dreams

Cagney And Lacey star Sharon Gless is shocked she is still recruiting fans of the TV show to the police force - and that they confuse real-life cop capers with those depicted on-screen.
The actress, who starred as Christine Cagney - one half of the female crime-fighting duo in the 1980s TV series - admits she tries to discourage fans from enlisting in the field of law enforcement.
She says, "Even today I have young women come up to me or write to me, saying they want to be a cop because of us.
"It's great but you have to tell them, 'This was just a job on TV, you could get hurt.'"
